A support to the “Tak Nak” Program of Malaysian government against
Smoking

As of 2006, according to a report conducted by Dr. Zarihah Zain,
Secretariat to the Disease Control Division of the Ministry of
Health during the 1st Asia Pacific Regional Health Conference on
International Union against Tuberculosis & Lung Disease held in
Kuala Lumpur on August 2007:
There are about 3 million smokers in Malaysia, making out to
about 21.5% of the total population.
46% are male smokers, 1.6% female, 24% Malay smokers, 16%
Chinese & 13% being Indian smokers.
The National Tobacco Control Program envisions that by 2020,
tobacco will no longer be a major health concern in Malaysia;
that in order for this to achieve, there should be a widespread
general public awareness concerning tobacco, its wastefulness, &
hazards.
One of the objectives of the National Tobacco Control Program is to
increase the numbers of Smokers giving up smoking thereby decreasing
the prevalence of tobacco consumption amongst Malaysians.
As a not-for-profit organization, we are concerned about the
health and lifestyle of Malaysians therefore:
