How to sleep
like Oil (Part 2)
In part 1, five suggestions were highlighted on
how to have a good night’s sleep. If you still keep
awake after following those, here are a few more:
- Open your windows and let fresh air come
into your bedroom. Avoid draft, though, though
so you don’t catch a cold.
- If you are troubled by noise, use ear plugs
or muffs. If you live near an airport, buy a
plane ticket and move say 200 kilometers away.
But if your partner snores like a battleship,
I’m afraid you can’t do very much about it!
- If you are bothered by light, use eye
covers.
- If you plan to sleep at night, don’t take a
two hour siesta after lunch. Only cats can
afford long naps during the day because they
prowl around the neighborhood practically the
whole night.
- And finally, Dr. J.W. McFarland, former
editor of Life and Health, adds that an
inspirational text is an absolute must if you
wish peace of mind and perfect rest.
Now, after following all the suggestions and you
still cannot sleep like oil, instead of tossing in
bed and worrying about it, why not get up and read
or do something of your daytime work? Some very good
ideas may come out of it! This may also be the best
time to write down your thoughts and talk to God.
Someone said, albeit facetiously, that if you can
not sleep, simply take it philosophically and say to
yourself that when you die, you’ll more than make up
for all the sleep you missed during your whole
insomniac life!
