World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared 31st May, 2011 as “World
No Tobacco Day 2011”. We, Health Ministry of PJ English church
recognised and supported the day.

As the awareness was initiated by PEM Health Department last year,
PJ English church Health Ministry and in collaboration with ACC
Cheras and Adventist Lifestyle Café, decided to continue to spread
the awareness this year.
Adventist Lifestyle Café supported us by giving out discount
coupons, which was pasted on our flyers. Therefore, we are promoting
our “No Butts, Breathe Free” and “Healthy Lifestyle” program.

We started out on the 30th May. We went to ACC Cheras for a short
briefing from Sister Jane. After she prayed for us, we went out to
Taman Maluri. The weather was so challenging. The people’s response
was rather negative. We decided to call it for the day and continued
the next day.

On the day itself, as we gather, we asked God for protection, good
response and most importantly, good weather. We went straight to
Taman Taynton View. During our journey, the sun was super bright and
super-hot. But we decided to trust God and continue to do what we
set to do.

Upon the arrival, we were blessed with a shaded parking lot. As we
step out of the car and began to start our outreach, we saw God’s
blessings. It was still bright and hot, but there was a big cloud
standing over us, covering us from the sun. To add on, the wind was
stronger than the day before. But best of all, the response we
received from the public was very much better. Some people came up
to us asking for the flyers and talked to us.
With all the wonderful God’s blessings we received, we were so
motivated and we finished our flyers in just a few hours and we
covered more places.
We would like to encourage this outreach because it is effective. It
is low cost, one-to-one communication and we can learn about the
people’s actual behaviour and response to our outreach. We also like
to encourage young people to join this because you will able to see
the world in the real perspective. The world is definitely more than
meets the eyes.
I like to thank God for all His wonderful blessings of good weather,
good response by the public and most importantly, blessing us with
patience and wisdom as we do outreach to the community. When we
allow God to use us as His instruments, we will be able to do things
that we never thought we can do. Thank you so much for this
opportunity. May God continue to bless us and may we continue to
serve God obediently. Have a nice and “Non-Smoking” day.
