No Butts, Breathe Free 2nd batch (12 May 2011)

May 12th 2011 ACC Kuala Lumpur. The Adventist Community Health Centre conducted the No Butts, Breathe Free plan, a program to help smoker stop that hideous habit. This time 2 persons signed up to go through this process of quitting, for 5 weeks they faithfully attended to the 2 times-a-week sessions, in which they went through a series of educational lectures, strategies, self awareness tests, demos and activities to make them realize the great value of their lives.

The third session was one of the most meaningful for them, during this session a symbolical ceremony is conducted where they have to “bury” their cigarettes and smoking paraphernalia in the “coughing- coffin” in order to say goodbye to their former beloved friend.

One of the participants has been smoking for over 25 years 60 cigarettes a day and was able to reduce to 2 sticks per day with the soon pledge of fully stopping; the other participant has smoked for 15 years 20 cigarettes a day and has reduced to 1 or 2 sticks per day and has decided to fully stop although he is in the struggle of it, we hope and pray that he will cross the “finishing line”.

It has been a tough journey for both of the participants, and we hope and pray that the strategies taught to them and the prayers for them will help them to finally quit.

We thank God for being able to help others, if you would like to quit or know of someone that would like to quit, the next intake is on July 27th give us a call 03-92834414.
