Penang – For the first time, the Breathe-Free Smoking
Cessation “Training the Trainors” Program was held for 4 days at the
Auditorium Hall of Penang Adventist Hospital led by Pastor Gration
Perera, SAUM Health Director; Pastor Abe Carpena, SSD Health
Director and Dr. Edward Nathan from the Wellness Centre of Penang
Adventist Hospital. “It is my privelege to share my passion in
helping people who are addictive to cigarettes and to be able to
train others how to do it using the Breathe Free Program,” says Dr.
Edward Nathan, a Preventive Health Specialist in Penang Adventist
Hospital who has helped many people quit smoking.
The participants who came included Mission Health
Directors from Sabah, Sarawak, Cambodia, & Peninsular Malaysia (PEM)
as well as PEM Lay people who are interested in opening Breathe Free
centres within the areas where they come from.
“With God’s grace, we plan to open at least 5 Breathe Free centres
by July 2010, and we are very thankful for this initiative by the
SAUM, SSD & PAH who worked together in order to make this program a
reality,” says Jane Yap, PEM health leader.
