As food is one of the major things that bring people
together, the holiday season is the best way to show off your
culinary talents. However, only a few know how to balance between
tasty and healthy meals. With this thought in mind, ACC decided to
conduct a cooking class entitled “Holiday Treats” which featured the
same cakes, salads, soups and gravies’ recipes found in famous cook
books; the difference was the carefully selected ingredients which
would produce equally tasty products but of higher health and energy
value.
The “eggless” sweet potato cake was packed with pecan
nuts, raisins and spices that gave it an excellent texture and sweet
aromatic flavor. The combination of buttermilk biscuits and
vegetarian lamb gravy was perfect. All the 15 participants were
impressed by all the dishes, which also included Spinach-Walnut
salad and Mexican Haystack. As with all the previous cooking
classes, the central philosophy of the recipes remained the same,
“easy, quick, healthy, and tasty.”
The ACC team thanked all those who braved the rain to
come and learn. While the number of participants attending the
cooking class at the Cheras Centre, remained low compared to similar
events held in Petaling Jaya and Kuchai Lama it was a marked
increase this month. ACC will continue to reach out to, and share
healthy lifestyle with many people thorough cooking classes as this
is consistent with the tagline, “….because your WELLNESS is our
priority!”
