The Adventist Community Health Centre (ACC) Klang Branch,
under the leadership of Ms Florence Devany, conducted their last
Community Health Expo for the year 2009. This time the team decided
to hold it at Klang Parade, a popular shopping mall situated along
Jalan Meru, within the Klang vicinity. Y.B. M. Mr. Manoharan, Klang
City Council Head opened the event at 10:30AM. In his keynote
address he emphasized the need of this kind of event in order to
help the people become more aware of living a healthy lifestyle. If
those present during the opening remarks by Y.B. would remember
anything he said it would be his eloquent rhetoric, “Health is
Wealth” which was received with loud applause. Ms Jane Yap, ACC
Health Director, brought into the people’s attention that the
obesity & hypertension population in Malaysia is alarmingly
increasing – two factors which contribute to four major chronic
diseases: Cancer, Stroke, Heart disease & Diabetes.
8 Health volunteers, consisting of Nurses, Nutritionist
& a Dietician, as well as common folks volunteered themselves and
dedicated their whole Sunday meeting people, going through the usual
health screening, health counselling, cooking demo, hydrotherapy
demo as well as exercise.
