The Adventist Community Health Centre (ACC) team was
invited as a participant for the health exhibit at Taylors’ College
Cancer Awareness program entitled “Cancer, Cancer, Just Beat It!.”
The event was organized by the Mass Communication students of the
college; it showcased the Malaysian Cancer Society’s (MAKNA) program
on Cancer Prevention.
The ACC was invited to conduct Fat & Fitness Screening,
seeing almost 40 students for over a period of 2.5 hours. Health
checks included BMI, body fat percentage analysis, step test, blood
pressure as well as counselling. It also showed exhibits on the
importance of good nutrition and physical fitness or exercise.
Almost 70% of the student participants showed increased
blood pressure and increased heart rate as most of them revealed
that they are lacking sleep as well as exercise due to the demand of
their classes and school work. The health team offered the students
advice on how to live a healthier lifestyle.
