“You have two choices, either to exercise or to prepare
to have a disease – it’s a choice you need to make,” the words of
Dr. Pang Chu Yen during the Healthy Lifestyle Program (HLP)
conducted for bank employees in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Over a hundred employees attended the Healthy Lifestyle program
conducted over four sessions in two months. The participants enjoyed
a series of health lectures and activities such as Health Risk
Assessment (HRA), healthy cooking demo, hydrotherapy and exercise.
“I am glad that I attended this program, I would have
missed a lot!” Says one participant from Sarawak. “I never thought
that vegetarian cooking could taste this good! I will definitely try
the recipes for my family,” says another, a mother of 2 children.
The participants were all in agreement that the program
has helped them become aware regarding the state of their health and
will try to make better choices in the future.
The Healthy Lifestyle Program, also known as HLP is a
program developed by the Adventist Community Health Centre (ACC) for
corporate companies with the hope of reaching out to those who are
busy career-makers, thus, creating a positive lifestyle for
themselves as well as for their families. Continued support is
extended to them via tri-monthly health newsletters, weekly health
articles via email as well as inviting them to attend the ACC’s
monthly activities.
