Due to the increasing demand of people who are eager to
attend the regular cooking classes in ACC Cheras, but unable to, due
to the distance, the team decided to hold it for the very first time
at the headquarters in Kuchai Lama. What a response! Twenty
participants turned up to the said event on 30th July 2009, referred
to by friends, colleagues and even passers by who saw the poster at
the ground floor of the office.
“Going Spanish” was the theme of last month’s cooking
class. Recipes included “Paella” a Spanish rice cooked in olive oil
and colourful vegetables; also on the menu was “stuffed tomato” –
made of blanched whole tomato and stuffed with scrambled tofu and
mayonnaise. For the desert, “Arroz con leche” or rice pudding was
served topped with bitter cocoa powder.
Prior to the cooking demo, the participants were
ushered to taste the food, followed by a health lecture on Smart Way
of Choosing Food which was presented by ACC’s Nutritionist, Rose
Solano.
“I have learned a lot from this program and wish to
come back the next time when you do it here,” said one eager
participant. This was a great opportunity to show case the good and
healthy cooking to the public.
