On Sunday 23rd November the folks in Kuala Selangor felt the love and
care of Adventist Community Health Centre. ACC team of volunteers
departed from Kuala Lumpur early in the morning. By 9am everyone was
busy, including the volunteers from Kuala Selangor setting up the
stations for the Mini Health Expo. It did not take time to get busy as
some of the residents had been waiting earlier than the official
opening to go through the series of screening. Attendees had the
privilege to assess their health status through the Karada fat
screening machine prior to blood pressure and glucose tests. They
would then go through a 3-minute step test to ascertain the health of
their heart. Based on all the compiled results, a counsellor was
available to interpret the results and offer advice to improve and/or
maintain health and good lifestyle. Apart from the health screening,
there were cooking demo, hydrotherapy demo and the drunken driving
test. The cooking demo featured three recipes comprising healthy and
easy to make vegetarian food. The mung bean patties, tomato chutney
and tosai recipes were positively appreciated by the crowd and
majority of them indicated a desire to try the recipes at home. It was
encouraging to see how people are willing to adopt healthy lifestyle
and improve their diet. When the hydrotherapy demo was in session,
people paid attention with excitement and amazement sending a clear
picture of how natural ways can be used in favour of medication.
