Just over five weeks ater staging a giant health
expo (Klang Valley Health Expo) at Sunway Pyramid
Shopping Mall, the ACC team set on wheels down south
to Johor Bahru to conduct a mini-health expo.

On August 21st 2008, a contingent of ten people
committed themselves to take charge of this two-day
mini health expo which, by the second day turned
busier than anticipated. Activities on the first day
kicked off at 2pm with a few people turning up in
small groups. A questionnaire was presented to every
participant upon registration, and the responses
together with the health screening results were used
to generate a computerized health appraisal.

Participants had a one-on-one talk with
counselors who explained to them in absolute detail
their health status and the possible lifestyle and
dietary adjustments needed to enhance their
wellbeing. Most people perceive wellness as just the
absence of diseases in the body, but as many would
later discover, it came as a surprise to some who
confidently looked healthy but failed to score the
minimum percentage for a healthy body.

The anti-stress chair massage attracted record
numbers followed by the 3-minute step test. A
lecture on Nutrition was presented which concluded
with a question-and-answer session that gave
participants an opportunity to discuss practical and
invaluable nutritional insights.

The sounds of Charobix were soon to fill the air
and instigate a jovial and hyper-active atmosphere.
It was encouraging to watch the young and old follow
the steps in unison. Thirty minutes went by without
notice as participants stayed focused at kicking
away the extra fat that may pose them at great
danger of chronic diseases. What a motivation it was
to notice the great consciousness people had gained
about the need to live a healthy lifestyle!
When the tents were finally folded, over forty
participants had gone through the whole cycle of
programs and activities. Indeed this mini-health
expo was a great appetizer for the JB folks in
anticipation of a grand health expo to be conducted
in 2009.
