ACC-PJ Buffet Lunch sees Record Turnout (14 September 2008)

If all you think of a vegetarian meal is rice and boiled veggies then a vegetarian buffet is far beyond your slightest imagination, Just for consolatin, many people also think of vegetarianism as boring, but after attending the ACC-PJ buffet lunch many people will never see vegetarian diet to be monotonous.

After months of planning, the first ever ACC-PJ buffet lunch was served on Sunday 14th September. Scores of guests from Petaling Jaya church attended with their family, friends and loved ones, with a few notable members from KL-English church. Tables were arrayed and loaded with delicacies from every part of the world.

The menu was wholesome, from Indonesia we had the Gado-Gado laced with the distinct peanut sauce. Tom Yam fried rice was also on the table, with the complementary taste-buds tickling soup to represent the Thai flavours. Who could have missed the aroma of Chapatti? right next to the accompanying bright yellow lentil dhal that left guests with absolute satisfaction. Thosai was also taken with chutney to give guests variety.

Also on buffet during the day, Chinese style stir fried noodles encumbered with vegetables and tofu to enrich it with nutrients and goodness. The vegetarian burger was a hit, Jimmy and Miriam worked flat out to serve the throng that wanted to have a bite of the augmented burger, dressed with lettuce, tomatoes and the creamy cashew cheese.

On the desserts table guests were attracted by the black glutinous rice hedged with fresh mango slices and dripped with coconut milk. Fruit salad, made from an assortment of exotic fruits drenched in natural yoghurt was also there to provide the vitamins and minerals.

The atmosphere was jovial with people’s excitement to taste new cuisines. With 56 guests lining for food there was no better opportunity to fellowship and share about healthy lifestyle drawn from all-plant based diet. Many people see vegetarian diet as restrictive and monotonous, but after attending the buffet lunch many people were convinced that vegetarian diet is vast, nutritious and tantalizing. We at ACC and ACC-PJ would like to thank all the guests for the tremendous support; we also cordially extend our invitation for our upcoming buffets and other activities too.
